Should I Dream For Another Thousand Years Should I dream for another thousand years Dare this soul to its former self denounce Times that I succumbed to shallow fears Or a shadow tiger about to pounce Through the darkling-cast mists of ancient tears. Should I dream, a paradise to reside Wherein Cupid's arrows so daftly fly Life and love joining with heart to confide Secrets of earth, beauty of new Spring sky Time's decay, seeking newer trails ride. Should I dream, eternity is my path A sojourn through this maze, a gentle walk Seek virgin stream for a renewal bath Gaze at bright-lit night sky and deign to talk About youth, folly and my once raging wrath. Should I dream, my vanity is a scar Its remedy a mere walk in the park An early morn trek, one not too, too far A realization, but one not too stark As to leave catastrophe's door ajar. Should I dream for another thousand years Dare this soul to its former self denounce Times that I succumbed to shallow fears Or a shadow tiger about to pounce Through the darkling-cast mists of ancient tears. I have to say....this is so incredibly brilliant. You are wasted here Lindley. But oh, for those who can see the brilliance - your poetry is without doubt an absolute "GIFT". This poem of Tennyson's, I was drawn to quote as reference, in one of my poems as well here in the consommé, some time ago. Beautiful choice. x

Thank you my friend. The Tennyson poem I read that inspired my poem was one I remember from many decades ago. A truly magnificent piece and definitely struck a chord with me. These Romantic era Brit poets are definitely deserving of the accolades they have received. Point of fact, many of them are deserving of even greater praise. As poetry owes so very much to them. Modern world owes so very much to them, imho God bless.....
