Shell Game

Steinbeck wrote A turtle Into infamy Into American history He wrote of struggle He wrote of pain Have we learned nothing Never getting out of the rain? Our government officials wants us to be better than we are But don't teach by example To busy playing "CZAR" We write for world peace For love and integrity For our Lord Our words are the sword We fight the battle while those that make the rules play monopoly.

Wow! Much to reflect on here. Love the last line. Thankfully, our Lord will see to justice in the end. We still are one nation under God and I believe most that. Blessings to you for sharing your talent with us. Thank you for your recent comment. Karen

Autumn, you hit the nail on the head with this one! If only our elected officials would lead by example. I'm glad you found inspiration in my work. By the way, John Steinbeck is my favorite author of prose. He surely did carry the torch for the downtrodden, didn't he? Love, Carolyn (Is Autumn Wood your real name? It evokes such a beautiful image!)
