She Watched
She watched him take her away
This child she'd given birth to
She watched her nurse the first time
Feeling it through and through
She watched her take her first steps
With fear and joy alike
She watched her walk in the school
And learn to ride her first bike
She watched her talk on the phone
And fix her makeup just right
She watched her put on the dress
And go to her first prom night
She watched her walk across the stage
With pride and many tears
She watched her pack for college
And remembered the early years
She watched her put on the veil
And gave her something new
She watched him take her away
This man she was married to.
