She Walked Away
I tried my best to hold her dear;
To hold her close, to keep her near.
She did her best, but wouldn’t stay.
So she got up and walked away
I cried that night, the night she left
It was a night I’ll never forget
Forever it’s etched, within my head.
For all she knows, I’m laying dead.
And now as I reflect upon
The life we had, that won’t go on,
I must forget her, evermore.
She’ll not return to my door.
Before I pack away my thoughts;
Into the box that I just bought,
I’ll stop to think just one last time
Of when I thought that she was mine.
Goodbye and good riddance, I say to her
For causing me all this pain and hurt.
Tomorrow I hope to smile the entire day
At the thought of when she walked away.
