She Named Him Lucky

As I was driving home one day a car pulled out quite quick. Realizing what they'd done I instantly was sick. Where they had stopped, a cardboard box did suddenly appear, And sticking out from over top a tiny orange ear. I parked the car and crossed the street peeking in to see, A little pair of kitten eyes staring back at me. Then in my arms while driving home he made a purring sound, As if somehow he understood he now was homeward bound. When we arrived and went inside my mom gave me a look, Proclaimed that Lucky be his name and that was all it took. Written by, Sheri Lynne Evans February 17, 2020
