She Has Nothing I Want

I understand the importance of remaining faithful to the one you love. When two hearts become one, and the knot is tied, no simple thing was done! It really had no resemblance to taking a stroll through the park. Though there was much to see there was far too little time to sit. It wasn't like watching a terrible film and then badgering the employees - no refund was available, this was it. What I don't understand, however, is how readily available women are with their ammunition, when you so much as look in another lady's direction. She becomes hard like a Catholic teacher, sending me straight to detention. The female form is a beautiful thing. Would you not agree? You don't have to be a guy to notice how lovely. I believe you should be incredibly worried if I never looked at any other. Even the best of us are quite stupid, but don't call me disloyal I believe you should have faith I won't slip up. You didn't just pick me out of the gutter... You planted a seed deep inside and turned this dirt into promising soil. That girl in the red bikini who walked daintily on the beach was simply that - A girl in a red bikini walking daintily on a beach! The truth is I don't know a thing about her: her favorite color or what she smells of when she wakes, or whether she's into dogs or cats (I know when you see a kitten with a ball of yarn, your heart just quakes). I don't know her ticklish spots, the perfume she wears, or what she likes to eat. Can she down just about anything, like you, And still remain light on her feet? I haven't the slightest clue for she is simply a girl passing through. She has nothing I could ever want, nothing that would ever hope to satisfy. She is like a pretty picture - a reminder of my humanity. But with you, my dear, you make me feel like I have wings, that could so easily touch the sky!

It can really hurt when we don't feel trusted by our mate. "She is like a pretty picture - a reminder of my humanity." Very interesting line. A guy with an honest and warm heart is what I am getting from this poem. We got to believe in each other! Always, Laura

Ahhh, a very sweet in depth reassurance, especially the ending. I love the little personal things about your mate; it really shows where you heart is in this composition. We all have different histories ,insecurities, and yes, girls can go nuts over the littlest things sometimes! I think communication is key. It's okay to feel uneasy about something, but if the communication is good, perhaps it will lay a good foundation for trust and faith to build on.

Yup! You speak the truth. I've gotten various different reactions from the poem (judging from the comments section) ... I've seen some girls that can get rather possessive to the point it's like, "Choose your girlfriend or your friends ... your mate or your family" ... course it can go both ways, too. I so enjoyed reading your insightful comments here :)

Ok, ok, I GET it, Timothy...lol! I admit I can be quite jealous if I see a guy I like looking at another girl. Mind you, I don't go all Rambo, but I do get a TAD annoyed. If I'm all you love, why should you look anyway? I just have to say, though. I've seen a lot of guys get really angry if the girl does the same thing. So my policy is don't look at anyone else Except the person you like. Causes a lot less arguments ha! But I DO understand your point. Good poem as usual. ;)

It seems every other person that comments on this piece either completely agrees or totally doesn't... lol. It definitely depends on the situation! My main purpose it to point out there is a difference between admiring someone's beauty and LUSTING over it. People really mistake "friendliness" for being "flirtatious" and it kinda irritates me...

I really enjoyed this one, Timothy. I have seen some really insecure women in my time and it's very unattractive, so I hope you realize many women are not like this at all (and boy, have I ever seen some guys that get jealous when the shoe is on the other foot. haha) Really great reading this one.

Thanks Andrea! My oldest brother had the worlds MOST jealous girlfriend at one point. The times when she wasn't completely crazy, she was actually really fun to hang out with... but the constant jealousy was just too much to deal with.

This is what I like to see Tim, you writing in poetry. This is a wonderful write and I'm sure would reassure the lady in your lfe of your fidelity. However, it's ok to look and admire, I do it all the time, but there's always the danger they look back. What yer gonna do then? Take care, Richard

Oddly enough this doesn't relate to me. I wanted to write about it because I know of too many horror stories... boy sees another girl walking by... girlfriend gives boy silent treatment for several hours. It's just silliness to me. Thanks for reading several of my poems and there will be Soup Mail coming your way!

Lovely poem perhaps a bit naive, as men we can be tempted and despite what we sometimes desire or want we preserve our relationships by staying away from circumstances that have the power to destroy the gifts and love in our lives. Many men travel down the path to destruction only to learn that what they lost was all they ever really wanted.

You are quite right Rick! I wanted to write about this subject because I know some girls that literally turn psychotic when their boyfriends go ten feet away, out of their sight. The lack of trust in each other isn't healthy in my opinion. And there's a fine line between being friendly and being flirtatious.

WOW Timmy! I give you a 7 for this one. You have outdone yourself with this poem. I really like the part where- You didn't pick me out of the gutter. You planted a seed deep inside. Timmy - thanks for liking my story/poem. Many blessings always. Lucilla

A beaut my good friend! You said it soooo eloquently with just a wee touch of humour! Let's just call it what it really is... admiration of a beautiful piece of art that should be admired, not drooled over! LOL A great write!!!

Whoops... responded to the wrong person! (my bad)... You are spot on my friend! I think the fact that certain people overreact tends to create problems within the relationship. Insecurities and trust issues begin to form... which I don't believe is healthy.

Haha... what a good policy to go by. I guess it depends on the situation, but for the most part I believe most girls overreact... but in other situations I believe they are perfectly in their right to get angry. Reading that story about your church group made me smile!

Timothy! That is awesome! Yes...I even point out the pretty girls to my husband! And when he sees someone with awesome floppy straight hair, he points him out to me! Yea...I'm a hair person! The policy is...LOOK, but don't TOUCH! You penned this so so incredibly well! I love the part about the Catholic teacher sending you to detention. Be a good boy, Timothy! ;) Look, but don't touch!

BTW...someone was doing a marriage enrichment seminar for us at our church group. He kept mentioning this person he'd met and how BEAUTIFUL she was. When I called it on him he said...Just because I'm on a diet, doesn't mean I can't check out the menu! ;) Well...check out the menu..but don't indulge! ;) Sorry...I couldn't help myself!
