Shattered By Love

I've been broken and smitten for so long, Standing here like a statue, With a vague thought, as elusive as the smell of a primrose, Observing a long slit of daylight like a pointing finger. Alone, like a storm-tossed wreck in the bar with no lady to call mine, A tear like silver, glistened in the corner of my eye, Then I saw a young lady, blonde hair and blue eyes, She was wasp-waisted and had glossy skin. Like a patient dog, I waited till the band played the last song, Beautiful as the dawn, dominant as the sun, But my family and friends hated her with passion. Charm upon charm in her was packed, like rose-leaves in a costly vase, Creeping like a snail, I'm unwilling to dump her, We eloped to a far city, Disappearing into distance like a hazy sea. Right there, she broke my heart beyond repair, It bleeds profusely and I'm cold, The choice I made didn't work out the way I thought it would, I'm shattered by love.
