Shame
Obsession lingers on a private island , somewhere between hell and paradise
And those of us who stand in solitude in the day time
Are all too aware that we are alone when we are lying awake at night
Some people see sunshine, some claim to see miracles
I just see me and sunsets and the angel and demon that sit on my shoulder
Just to remind kindness is a background noise where I was born
My phantom side has painted words all over the walls inside of my head
And the only ones I can read
Are emotions stated politically obsolete
I'll never understand the morals and opinions of people and the general society
We protest by standing naked in the rain
Screaming about being socially accepted and how we have no faith in God anymore
Then there are the cowards who stay crouched in the corner
Tracing comforting lies in the dust on the floor
I just try to find a place to fade into the background with my pen
Where no one can see me putting my head down in shame
As I write the ballads of this hopeless thing I call humanity
