My subconscious chains strain
to keep my demons tethered to fantasy,
as demonic beasts test my moral resistance,
while ripping relentlessly with teeth and claws.
Grotesque self-images,
like shadows of shadows forged in the bowels of hell,
once freed, would defile the sanctity of my soul
with carnal lust and debauchery.
