Shadow
You stalker,
Tracing my every footstep
Ridiculing and manipulating my image
Dragging my image on the concrete
Causing it to collect dust,
Bathe in the mud,
Swim in filthy puddles,
Scrapped and slapped by autumn’s fallen rainbow
You find humor in
Exaggerating my proportions
Depending on time of day
Lower-body—nonexistent
Or voluminous top accompanying tiny legs and feet
Your constant and unwanted presence
Causes me to shiver in rage
A loud shout and scream defeats me
And pleases you
I will not be fooled
I know your game
I invented you
All will be aware of their
Wild wondering spirit
Disappearing into the nights’ sun
No sense of direction
Simply chasing after life
Which it has yet to meet
