Shadow

Drowning in the sea of reason Down I fell beneath the wave Breathing deep the air of freedom Chained to rocks of what can't save me What do I see? What can I be? Rising tides And waters deep That help my helpless soul to sleep Memories I tried to keep Kept burning in the sea And all that I had ever made Crumbled in my empty hand All hopes I'd saved Turned out to be just dust and sand Art and artifice, "I am" Sowing salts of hollow man Fallow earth and barren dirt This quintessence of dust Cries out into the desert Justly screaming at the sky I Am
