Set Out

I set out To change my ways Beneath an amber sun I became a man Sweat on my brow Tears in my eyes I dropped the bottle And it shattered The poison stained my veins Bleeding out as tears A lone cowboy Herding stars in the sky I'm not alone I just fenced myself in The poison whispered lies The folly was in believing them I'll never be different If I give into temptation My worst enemy Has always been myself One last round of Russian Roulette Either he dies or I die I've got too much to do To die by an intoxicant One last gunshot And I'm still on my feet The demon in the bottle is dead And I'm ready to live again
