Set Me Free

Please grant me the gift of seclusion To be free, from where all others go, An escape, a cleanse of confusion Time alone and an end to the show. Let me roam upon the hinterland Explore, the early hints of the breeze, Walk in the sun ‘til darkened and tanned Hear the birds as they flit through the trees. Nest me beside a mirror flat lake Enjoy nights, gazing up at the stars. Back to a spell that’s simple not fake Where only land, possesses times’ scars. Place me beside a pure highland stream View wildlife as it ducks, plays, and weaves, Breathe in fresh air, with eyes closed, and dream Watch morns’ dew as it tickles green leaves. Set me upon a tall mountain peak Watch mist gently caressing the ground, Immerse in spaces simply unique Unwind where the worlds' wonders abound.

Congratulations on your win, not sure what contest it was entered in? As you know I loved it and faved it! : ) I adore NZ. I took my eldest daughter on one of my trips and we went horse back riding on the beach. Fond memories!

It's an awesome wee corner of the world. I could imagine the horse back riding on the beach would definitely be memorable, especially if it was alongside some of the high cliffs we have on the east coast.

Oh Mark....this is the kind of poetry that inspires me so, the reason I come here day after day...to hope to find poetry such as this to bless my day! Enchantment and bliss are adjectives that come to mind! A Fave! 7 ; )

Hi Mark, this is an excellent piece of poetry. This piece seems to move along lyrically. It opens up a canvas of peace to me Mark. You have a way at looking at nature, you make it a song of life. The words just flow so easily down the page Mark. Words to bring peace to the soul. Excellent Job Mark. This has to be a seven and a fave. Your Friend....Mike.

Hey Cheers Mike. I'm having a sabbatical from the soup and writing and just happened to pop in briefly. Good to see you back here, and I'll catch up when life permits.

This is beyond good....It's simply perfect. I agree with CayCay...how did you come up with this. I feel so insignificant when I read a poem of this caliber. Great job, Mark. Lovely....

It will sound silly, but I tried to write this musically. I had a melody in my head, that took care of the first line, sets the syllable count, and then try and keep the flow going with things that appeal to me. Anyway as I said it sounds a daft method.

Mark - I feel that I am back in advanced English class (high school) and studying a master poet's poem. This is such quality, reminiscent of many of the best poets we studied. I love it. FAV and 7. This poem is beauty in words. BTW - belated Happy Birthday, doesn't seem near long enough since we last said that to each other ... CayCay (please enter this into a contest when appropriate, it needs to be read)

You are far to kind. I did enjoy writing this one, but it's not a masterpiece, however, I'm pleased you saw some of the depth. Must have a catch up and and a soup mail yarn at some stage. Off to work now (nice to have had a sleep in and Be leaving at leisurely 7 today). Take care : )
