Rich russet and gold leaves fall from the trees
Like small ballerinas they twirl around
I love to watch them dancing in the breeze
Then floating so gently onto the ground
Crispy leaves now carpet beneath my feet
They rustle and crunch when I’m out walking
Summer has beaten a hasty retreat
Autumnal shadows will soon be stalking
Naked trees shiver as biting winds blow
Squirrels forage for their winter food store
I watch them scamper in the leaves on show
Finding acorns which the squirrels adore
I love the colours at this time of year
When I see leaves fall I know autumn’s here!

Checked with how many syllables
N/B ‘stalking’ shows as 1 syllable but I have classed it as 2
using the soup counter as I consider this is more accurate for this particular word.
