So far away . . . I know why you're there, heard all the reasons. I've no argument with the why of it, but missing you hurts. I need your arms, your solid strength, now spent on foreign soil. In my dream, I feel you lying next to me, your voice rumbling in my ear. I reach out for you, touch empty space, cold sheets. Longing overwhelms me, tears fall unheeded. Tomorrow I will wear my cloak of courage, tonight I weep alone.
