Selfish

We showed up late to the party All eyes were on us Especially the girls in their little skirts I made my space In between the back door and refrigerator Watching all the drunks become flirts Near the pool table I saw a guy with long curly hair That had red hues under the light My knees buckled As I tried to shrink myself To be completely out of sight You quickly said your goodbyes As the cigarette free air Filled my lungs We got in my car And all my thoughts Finally rolled off my tongue Your eyes didn’t blink But the first thing you said was “This doesn’t affect me” I shook my head But finally My head and heart agreed After months Of your comments About my past Or your constant Pulling down my clothes Without being asked I told you to get out Out of my car that embarrassed you Because it wasn’t expensive You stumbled into the parking lot Cursing my name Cause you thought it would be offensive You went back to the party Probably changed the story With every drink Like how selfish I was Cause I didn’t Depend on you to think
