Self-Existent Light
There are two kinds of light - the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures.
James Thurber
I hid my light, feared my own glare
I'd just sit quietly to dream
As rejection, I could not bear
When lack internal self esteem
Though sometimes lit by a moonbeam
The nighttime when my heart I bare
My sense of self I could redeem
I hid my light, feared my own glare
So I offer up a prayer
To bring me to life through regime
Send a message if you are there
I'd just sit quietly to dream
Wash away my worries downstream
And be of my light more aware
Reveal a light much more extreme
As rejection, I could not bear
Cast aside feelings of despair
Release from me the silent scream
Give me luminous light to share
When lack internal self esteem
My light and I can be a team
Learning to love thyself and care
Move forward as if in slipstream
Discover something that is rare
I hid my light
