Congrats, Judy, nice to see a horsey receiving some approbation, and worthy of it, too. I suppose our equivalent would be Desert Orchid. Viv x

The only thing equivalent would be Man O' War and will forever be questioned as to which horse was the fastest! Given modern track conditions my bet goes to Man O' War....Thanks for stopping by

You tube...watch his Belmont Stakes, Secretariat wins by 31 lengths which appears the horses were racing on two different race tracks. Thanks for your comment.

And remember that Americans had little to believe in with the on going war and Watergate. Secretariat was our honest hero who made the cover of Time and Newsweek magazine. Today his track record remains unbeaten. Back then he was our HOPE our only HOPE.....

i didn't remember that his time was at the same time as watergate. thanks for that reminder! nicely done...

If you're referring to The Canadiana Folksingers from the early 60s, the name of our one and only album was called "This Land Is Your Land!" I was the banjo player, one of 6 singers, a la New Christy Minstrels! Our CD was for sale on ebay but I thinks it's gone! Love, Jack xxx

Secretariat was the only honest thing America had to believe in during the Nixon Vietnamization and Watergate! Amazingly he still holds the Track Record but then his heart was twice as large as a regular thoroughbred inherited from his Mother/dam 'Something Royal'

Sounds good...Dig it up, write a poem and put your photo for all of us to see.... That would be delightful not to mention a rarity!
