Seasons Own Time Machine

I was born a kelly green towards the first of the year I was all shiny and clean not knowing what I should fear. I survived the summer heat only with mere drops of rain I will never be beat even with suffering and pain. As my host was getting older I turned yellow, orange, and red The breeze is blowing colder it is my time, I am near dead. I spiral with dignity and grace to the earth layden floor Once having a face know no more. On the dirt ground I lie I am naked in a pile Not yet ready to die I give the kids a smile. The children count... one, two, three... They are running towards me As they jump, they say, “WEEE!” In the air I fly, I am set free! I fly through the breeze like I have never done before I go through the naked trees See this again? I will not anymore. My edges become brown and crisp I am nibbled on by a deer. Be not sad and frown. You will see my offspring in the beginning of next year. This is it, here I lie. Do not fit, I bid... good-bye.
