As the year marches relentlessly on
things around us quickly change
I love the start of each season
A gift given to us all to enjoy
As I drive along in spring
its the promise of rebirth
all around are signs of new life
nests being built buds opening
Summer soon follows suit
bright fresh leaves adorn the trees
colourful flowers dip and bend
swaying gently in the breeze
Autumn so fruitful crops ready
harvest the spoils and store
safe ready for pickling and jams
earth's bounties freely shared
Ah most magical of all at Start
the icy fingers of winter reach out
hoar frost abounds on the trees
fresh trails in the virgin snows
If asked I would have to say
for different reasons I love
the start of each and every one
always glad to see winter's end
