Seasons
The bay stretches out along the beach
With waters warmed by the summer winds.
The summer drifts along the sand
And turns and smiles as summer ends.
She takes her leave with no regrets
And journeys off to distant lands.
Autumn comes in with grace and ease;
She dances through the grass, the trees,
And runs and leaps across the sand
In the gold ballet of the autumn breeze.
She stays awhile within this land,
Departing as the waters freeze.
The winter comes as autumn wanes
With memories of the past ice age
When to this land she came and stayed
And carved out the lake outside the bay.
She rests her head upon the sand
Then, remembering, goes on her way.
Spring comes early to the bay;
She spreads her dress upon the land,
While spring winds toss their curls
And display their charms like coquettish girls,
Then scurry off as their time here ends
And summer drifts along the sand again.
