Searching My Soul

My soul seems to be hidden today. Where can it conceal itself? I thought it was always with me, Roaming the endless paths That clatter the corridors of my mind, coursing through my arteries and veins, invading all essential organs that keeps me alive all day. Maybe it flew away Like some mad eagle that lost its way! I will not search for it. It will return when it feels There is a need for it. My feet follow tracks unknown Oblivious of time and space. I meet old friends and strangers, I pass on, I do not recognise their mien. I thread through paths lined With rampant dark green ferns, I slush through shallow muddy pools, I rest below the copious hedgerows. Down in the valley cows are milked, Geese cackle and cocks crow, Cats copulate in peace. Fragrance of new-cut hay Makes my nostrils flare. Smoke billows from the chimney Of an old cottage near the farm. Should I invite myself, Betake a country hearty meal? I am welcome Urged to taste the home-brewed beer Or the new fermented cheese. I feel a kind of peace. Perhaps my soul is back Or perhaps it's the beer or the cheese. Who can say?

A very heartfelt poem this is dear Victor, so well expressed and delivered, i think sometimes we all feel this way, and the best like youve said is to let it come back when it wants to as there must be a reason for everything always. How touching and soulful is this! I always love reading your poems that flow with alliterations and clever phrases that leaves me in awe and hooked! Sending you light always

Oh, dear Victor, this is an amazing write that serves as a spectrum of vivid dimension, allowing us to dive in the realm of soul-searching.. Often times, we may feel lost and our souls may seem distant.. At those instants, certain things or events, work as a flicker of spiritual rejoicing, we never know, what may make us feel at home, within ourselves. Deep thoughts you've presented here with beautiful imagery and that ending is really amazing! A wonderful poem indeed. Keep writing and shining.

A wonderfully, engaging poem! I love the way the scenic, country rambles ultimately leads him back to his soul, as he receives his warm welcome. :)

Your ramble through country paths offers diverse views. Thoughts flow in endless succession. I feel so refreshed by the poem though its opening was a little chaotic. Enjoyed reading it so much....!

Victor, your poem exhibits a profound level of introspection, skillfully portraying the process of self-exploration. The contemplation of the outer world as a mirror of the inner realm engenders profound contemplation.

New mowed hay has its own special scent as do others happening like petrichor. So many items in this one I am familiar with in my life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and descriptions with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Sometimes we feel that way that our soul is hiding from us but sooner or later an experience we encounter can make us realise that it's never too far from our side. Tom

The imagery and feelings felt along the way were comforting, especially the visit to the cottage. If we don't press it, we will again feel the presence of our soul. Have a pleasant day, my friend. Bill

Dear Victor, Your poem is a deeply reflective piece that beautifully captures the journey of self-discovery. Exploring the external world as a reflection of the internal state is thought-provoking. The ending leaves me with a sense of peace and contentment, yet with an open question that invites further reflection. Your poem is a testament to the power of introspection and the beauty of the journey within. Inspiring! - Blessings, Daniel

A very lovely imaginative poem, dear Victor, so full of imagery. I'm sure your Soul just wanted you to follow to enjoy the wonders of the walk, find the old oak cottage, and enjoy the hospitality offered...Hugs

Engaging. Without your soul perhaps you’d be as an empty vessel lacking the colorful character and even gloomy disposition that one may wear like a cloak when so inspired. Great poem.
