Sea of Empty Dreams

Silent tears forever falling; Silent tears on life's deaf shore. Treasured memories wrapped in sorrow; Treasured memories never more. Love's frail arms outstretched and reaching, across a sea of empty dreams; Love's call lost, almost beseeching, never reaching love's lost schemes. No refuge from the mourning, every thought, nightmares of pain. Every pore sends out a warning, never more and not again. Eyes wide open, always searching over dunes of misery. Creeping, always weeping life finally fades into the sea. written April 29, 2016

Francis, the repetition and rhythm of this poem lead the reader into the swells and troughs of the sea. A lovely take on the theme, thanks for entering the contest.

You are allowed to enter any poem in any contest, as long as their rules do not state otherwise. The closing date is something I can explain to you. There are two ways a contest can close: when the judge has gotten the number of entries asked for (usually 35) OR on the closing date (these are the contests that not many people are jumping to enter. They stay open till the very end) Always check by number of entries., when that number is close to 35 , you had better enter!!!

wow, was this a poem inspired by Unchained Melody? If so, you should note it (in case it is for the contest) Anyway, you did a fantastic job here and if it was not written for Gren's song contest, you really should enter it anyway.

No, the inspiration was from Tennyson's "Tears, Idle Tears", (absolutely beautiful poem). I entered "Sea of Empty Dreams" in the "Even The Angels Wept" contest. Not sure if it could be entered in two contests at once. Also, I haven't figured out what the "Closing Date" means. The contests seem to close at different dates. Thanks for the kind words and the good advice.
