Mama warthog decided it was time, To take her two piglets for a walk, She wanted to take them up a steep climb For it would make them strong, but first had a talk With her young ones, about many a predator Out there, who were always on the hunt, They listened to Mom did Lester and Hector, So off they went, Mama led from the front. This was their first time on a grown up’s walk, They tarried a bit playing hide and seek On the way, Mama scolded them, see that hawk, She explained, his talons are long, his beak, Sharp and he will swoop down and grab You both with a fearsome might Relishing and gorging himself outright. Oh my gosh, oh dearie me, Think how sad Dad and I would be, Warthogs having an excellent, keen sense of smell, Putting Mama on the alert, As her piglets were playing, And having fun frolicking and exploring In the dense African bush, its voice Whispering, what a delicious meal for lions on The prowl, Mama knew so well, if the lions could Steal them from her, they would Devour every morsel and leave their bones To the vultures. Uneasy, she collected her youngsters, And began their return trip home, showing them How to forage for bulbs to eat, by digging With their tusks whilst on their elbows. Amusingly when they were running home all three Tails stuck straight up like radio antenna. Well, this little warthog family got home safely, The piglets had their first lessons in the wild, No predators thankfully crossed their path This day!

It is such an amusing write.... dear Jenny. Enjoyed the piglets' day out with their mama. The mother on seeing danger, directed her children back home. I like her wisdom and concern. Children will love this poem while grown ups find it so engaging. "Amusingly when they were running home all three Tails stuck straight up like radio antenna." I visualize this scene and see their tail stuck straight like antenna!

what a delightful and engagingstory and so well narrated, Jennifer. Such descriptive words that I almost felt like I was one of the piglets who understood the mother's instinct. (If that makes sense?) I was seeing the world through the mother's eyes. I sincerely enjoyed reading your poem. Wishing you a splendid week ahead, Sara

Dear Jennifer, I was truly impressed by the way you captured the essence of a mother warthog's protective instincts in your poem. It beautifully depicts her guiding her piglets through the wilderness, imparting valuable lessons. Your choice of words creates a vivid image of the warthog family's journey, especially with phrases like "his talons are long, his beak sharp" and "tails stuck straight up like radio antenna." These details add depth to the narrative and make it a truly engaging read.

Hello my friend such a lovely storyteller you are.. This delightful tale of Mama warthog and her piglets embarking on their first journey through the African bush paints a vivid picture of maternal care and the challenges of survival in the wild. It skillfully captures the essence of the natural world, from the playful antics of the piglets to the ever-present dangers lurking in the shadows.
