School Dance

Young boys Looking in the mirror Combing hair with wet comb Practicing alluring smile Flexing developing biceps Steel yet to be hardened Dreaming with sweaty palms Hoping she says yes Inspired by Monterey's poem Hope

Richard This write is cute and creative. The descriptive words lets the reader imagine past dances and the fear of asking someone to dance. Nice job

You have perfectly captured the situation... Girls always looked much older when you asked them to dance. After the first dance I felt much bolder.... Jake

Great Imagism. It's good you've thought of these boys..it reminds me of those years; shadow boxing, rehearsing a step to lure girls, fine-tuning the voice....Thanks for sharing. JM By the way, I featured you in my latest poem: POPCORN MUSIC.JM

Awesome! I used to be one of those boys! Combing my curly afro hoping my nerdy smile will attract that tall, brunette girl. Ah, what wacky days...

Me too, I still love to dance. Fortunate for me No more worry of being rejected. The sweaty palms have also dried.

I absolutely love it! This is the perfect balance for my poem. The view from the other side of the dance floor.
