Scary Moments
It happened just today
How do I give them away
Pre-wrapped Christmas gifts
Puzzled, my mind shifts
Don’t recall ordering these
Suddenly I’m ill at ease
Check the name tags
Are people playing gags
Gifts for Mom, Dad, John
All people long gone
Some gifts bore no names
Who would play such games
Who is this bicycle for
Please tell me, I implore
Upset, I wake up in a sweat
Where am I, did I forget
Why am I alone in bed
When I’m still a newlywed
To the mirror I run
Where has my youth gone
See my grandmother’s face
Did I hit home without touching base
What became of my life
I am still a young wife
But no, he’s gone now
What did fate endow
Memory slipping away
It happened just today
