Scarlet Letter

I sit all alone, no one could ever know, this scarlet letter that hides below. It is burned slightly in my chest, only where I know it rests. My lovers haven't noticed, the recessed skin that displays there is a secret, hiding in this place. No matter how far my world runs from the old places, there is always this letter settled deep within. I look down and wonder what could make the letter disappear, then I realize, it will always be there. The letter will always hide, secretly beneath the world's eyes. It is a part of my flesh, but not a part of my soul, and though there may be a physical hole, my heart is truly whole.
