Saying No To the Devil

I was traveling down the road one starless night Looking for some peace of mind to set me right When who should block my path but Lucifer himself He cackled at me vainly from his hillside shelf "Oh child" he said "things will be fine if this you'll do- Give me your soul and you can start your life anew" He raised his pitchfork-with a smile began to hiss I got lost for a moment as I pondered this I thought about his offer but my heart told me If I gave my soul to him I'd never again be free For a time my troubles certainly would quell But someday I'd have to endure the flames of Hell He wasn't happy with my answer I must say Screamed and cursed my name as I began to pray **for contest The Devil Made Me Do It sponsored by Thvia Shetley

It seems some folks place little value on their souls, Deb, but I'm glad you're not one of them! Have you read "The Devil and Daniel Webster"? Jabez Stone sold his soul and Webster successfully defended him against a jury comprised other souls who had succumbed to the devil's temptations. Really like your approach to the contest. Best wishes for success. Love, Carolyn
