Satisfaction
I hope you're happy
With a life like that.
I hope you're happy
In that place you're at.
I hope you're happy
In that suit you wear;
With the pay you make
And the smile you bear.
I hope you're happy
When you take a wife;
When you buy a home
And create a life.
I hope you're happy
When you're 45,
And you remind yourself
Of the life you've contrived.
I hope you're happy
When you leave your bride
To make the next flight
Or to catch your next ride.
I hope you're happy
When you have to miss
Your son's first steps
And the warmth of a kiss.
I hope you're happy
When you're 85
And you remind yourself
Of the life you've contrived.
I hope you're happy
When you confront your past,
With the things you've done
And the memories that last.
I hope you're happy
With your mind's last view:
When your final memories,
Are the meaningful few.
