My thanks go to Brian Johnston who inspired me to write an animall poem about a female rather than a male animal

Sarah snake slithered so slowly, for she had lost her way in life She used to be a happy snake; she was once a loving wife But her hubby Sydney he had passed away and now she was all alone She slithered around so aimlessly and drifted far away from home She wrapped her scaly body round the base of an old tree And wept many sad tears dreaming of her lovely mate Sydney A young girl was walking by and had never seen a snake cry She crept over to Sarah who was sobbing like she would die She stroked Sarah’s scaly skin and wiped the tears from her eyes Sarah looked at her with her beady eyes in amazement and surprise The little girl whose name was Lynn, ran over to her mother Asked if she could keep Sarah and share her with her brother Her mum came to look at the sad snake and they took the old snake home Now Sarah lives with the family she is contented and no longer alone Jan Allison 17th August 2014

My late mother in law was called Doris - could think of a better name for the bear Peter as that would give me nightmares! I'm having fun with the animal poems one day will pursue my dream and turn them into a children's book:-) Hugs Jan. hope you have had a better day today my friend:-)

Aww Casarah you are so kind:-) I have no idea where these poems come from but I do enjoy writing them - maybe it's because of my background as a Nursery Nurse and how I still love reading to children - I love it when our friend's grandaughters are there - the adults sit and chat I have the children on my knee and we read. You will be the first one to get a copy when/if i get it published! Hugs as ever jan xxx

Someone commented all my animal poems were about male animals so i had to write one from a female perspective and I based it on women living longer than men:-) Hugs Jan xx
