Sarah
I hadn’t yet had children,
My own not yet conceived
My sister only seventeen,
My dad a bit aggrieved.
But soon aggression disappeared,
When Princess Sarah came,
There really wasn’t any choice,
Selecting her first name.
I hadn’t had a niece before,
No past to reflect on,
How could I be an uncle,
Let alone her only one?
I sometimes told her stories,
I created from my mind,
In them she was the princess,
Pretty, loving, caring, kind.
She’d close her eyes for sleeping,
Soon went out just like a light,
I said “Goodnight my princess”
As I kissed Sarah goodnight.
Some say all babes are pretty,
But there’s some a little less,
But baby Sarah, my new niece,
A definite princess.
