Saint or sinner? - FOR OSCAR WILDE It is a question, not a statement But for your life the former didn't count How they perceived you was more paramount Oscar? How painful you had to bend The lies and twists, the pain How they made you betray yourself And crawl through dust, and delve Your grave, all you did feign. You remain my hero, all I ever knew I would never write my poetry, Be openly gay, because, you see? Saint nor sinner, that's how I see you. *** For contest: Saints and sinners. It is a shame they had to hide who they were. Did you know it was illegal to be gay in England until 1967? Terrific poem Darren

Yes.... It's something easily forgotten, isn't it? I knew indeed. I have read all he wrote and everything written about him, including the poems written by his lover. The Saints and Sinners quote he wrote is my favourite quote. Thanks Tim :)
