Sadness

She spoke to me of her passion And I watched her face as it brightened As she spoke, she had a sudden recall And apologized for speaking at all Because someone had told her she wasn't enough The flame inside her eyes was snuffed She has been told to keep her words at bay People aren't born sad, we make them that way
