Sad Songs Say So Much

When the Sun surrenders the sky to the Moon, and the stars reawake in its gloom, sad songs say so much When the flames of a love smolder in smoke, and there's no longer a fire to stoke, sad songs say so much When the heart and breath both become frail, and life passes beyond the veil, sad songs say so much When hope is too high in the depths of despair, and life is too much to bear, sad songs say so much When the blooms of life wilt and decay, and you can't press on, you can only press play, sad songs say so much

Your sad song says a lot. Its true, the full depth of a sad song is felt so much more when you are in a melancholy mood. Your poem highlights a desolate feeling that comes from love fading, and leaves the reader with complete empathy and with that feeling you get when you have just heard a sad song. Love it Shane, write on...

Thank you, Tony. I appreciate you taking the time to read it and for leaving a comment. Music certainly has a way of helping us heal, carrying us through, and being our voice when we don't have the words ourselves.
