Sacramental Acts

An afternoon beer in the shower The written prayers of a Serbian bishop Eating Mexican food alone at the market Chopsticks and noodles A prayer beneath a canopy of trees Contemplating a woman’s lips Contemplating her kiss Waking to the rain on your window Writing a poem for a black widow These are the sacramental acts For the simple and holy essence of your life.

Another great one. I think I have read all of your poems. There is something about your style that really appeals to me. Your work is thought-provoking, honest, and is easy to imagine. I'd like to read the poem about the black widow. ;) She's a beautiful but deadly spider. I like how she adds to the femininity of your piece, after the contemplation of a woman. I'd like to wake up to some rain here too. It's been hot over here lately. ;) Great one. Always, Laura

Thank you Dean, for the suggestions! I will definitely read into it. Chinese poetry is beautiful. I love the simplicity and I love clear imagery. Keep up the amazing work, and please do keep posting!!! I'm a fan already haha. ~Laura

i will see if i can dig that poem up, but it was pretty lame and i may not have the guts to post it haha. have you read any chinese poetry? they always wrote super simple poems in regards to ideas and imagery (of course they were complex on the technical side) - but their main focus was to capture a moment or a feeling and translate it into words.

Chinese poems have probably been the biggest influence for my writing in the sense that the past year or two i have tried to capture and emulate their simplicity. if you are interested in reading some, i recommend "women poets of china" - Kenneth Rexroth and "one hundred poems from the chinese" - Kenneth rexroth. if you like those he has 4 or 5 more
