Running

I am running from the memories. I have processed enough already To last a life time. From a childhood trashed by trauma. Pieces of trash float with The muddy waters of emotions. The perpetrators are running too. But they can only run so long. I will out run them in this race. I will make it to the falls Where the water sparkles Crystal clear with my words of truth In my story forbidden to be spoken. No-more will these secrets muddy the water. For this trash belongs to the heartless Who think the law does not apply to them. Heidi Sands

Powerful poem this is, Heidi. The declaration ... I will out run them in this race ... says it all. You have the strength of endurance through knowing the final outcome will be in your favor. Very strong and passionate write. Much love to you, dear.

I believe there is more to this than meets the eye, though I agree with James below, things we experience as children do haunt and never really go away. We can run, but they seem to run faster. But there is a finish line I know and once we cross it, there is no looking back. Beautifully expressed Heidi.
