Runaways
It was raining on the night they decided to run;
no one knew why the left.
They left without a trace, confusion clouding their faces,
and all they took with them was hope for survival...
.......and a gun.
They held each other tight as they ran blindly through the night;
fighting for the dream that threatened to slip away.
They had no idea of where they were going,
but they knew they would get there.....
.........someway.
It didn't take long for the fear to set in;
the fear of what was hiding in the shadows....
And the voiceless whispers that echoed through the alleys
were like footseps in their minds taking them back to a time
They longed to forget.
It was getting colder every minute and they ached for sleep,
so they hid in the doorway of a closed down shop.
Then they shut their eyes in an attempt to avoid
the regret that would not stop.
Both felt the hilt of the gun.
Eye to eye they saw the reflection of acceptance in their minds.
So she took the gun first in shaky hands and
kissed her lover goodbye.
(The shot rang out like a loud explosion aiding to the evil of the night.)
Alone he stood, fighting back that tears that
threatened to blind his eyes.
But it was in vain, his tears fell like the rain,
so he pulled the trigger and died.....
.....and the rain kept falling down.
