Round and Round the Hamster Goes

Round and round the hamster goes when he'll stop nobody knows busy busy all the time just to earn a blessed dime round and round he's always striving hanging by a little show string Stop a while and count your blessing take some time for sweet confessing Round and round the hamster goes never gets there but he's close.

we used to have one named Cloudy, long ago when the kids were small. We went on holiday one year and left him with a friend, and he got away and chewed up his air conditioning wires on the hottest day of the year. You could imagine the reception we got upon our return lol

nicely done! How many times when I was working full time did I feel like that hamster, not knowing when or how I'd stop. I finally learned, though, to at least pause and count my blessings. A truly delightful poem. Am faving it, Sara

I think of the hamster every time i sit on my "stationary" bicycle....I often find it an apt metaphor for life...."pedaling like mad and getting nowhere"...A though provoking little ditty Rose

lol, I miss bike riding John. I wish I did more activities, but as I get older I seem to choose walking above all but that is ok, thanks for stopping by my poetry :)

Theres this song by rihanna, it goes “ round and round.. something… i thought of that song as i read this deeply moving song, i think the song is called “ stay” maybe you might like it, do listen. And also this is the reality of so many. And the way you write about such heartfelt subjects always leaves me in awe. Hamster too, can be a metaphor… thats how i perceived as a reader. Getting there almost there, someday they will reach there whilst stopping once in a while to count their blessings.
