The beeches Three queenly beeches on an English hill, Tree spirits, sisters, who kept watch for centuries. Root ridges cross and knit a wooden carpet; Bare branches tangle, twist, and leave a mosaic, Like stained glass windows, of pale April sky. Thank you, Eve. The trees impressed me very much; I saw (and photographed) them in England in 2001, and the image has stayed with me since.
