Romeo and Juliet
Two lovers lay,
their flames burned bright,
their story is told,
by candlelight.
A starry eve,
a winter's rain,
the fires of passion,
drown by pain.
A rival of colors,
of words and names,
the song of the city,
its gangs and its games.
A tragedy 'twas,
he loved her; and she him,
but their destiny decided,
by the fates of other men.
As the winds of a winter's eve
stand still,
and the city starts to cry,
the legacy of two ill-begotten
lovers,
slowly had to die.
A crimson river runs through a
bed of mortal brick,
the memory of a thirty-two
lodged in his ribs,
the lonely haunting of a city's
nightmare,
only the strong can live.
As she lie weeping to the chest
of her love,
she could not take the pain of
fury longer,
with sides opposed, lead
burning deep in her chest,
let me ask you, who was
stronger?
A tear glistened on her swollen
cheek,
as she questioned once again,
'do I want to leave this world of
hatred,
just to be with him?'
The sounding of a silver savior,
answered to her lingering,
and to this day if you listen
closely,
you can hear the angels
singing...
'Why so young, the death of
two,
who's journey is now complete,
a twentieth century Romeo and
Juliet,
yet somehow not quite as
sweet.'
