Roadside
I walked a while and found a diner,
I was starving and ordered some grub,
the waitress said no food was finer,
I could see cooking grease stored in a tub
I tasted the food she brought to me,
and to my surprise it was really good,
but I wrote her a note to set her free
and take her with me to Hollywood
She read the note and let out a scream,
I wasn't quite sure what I should think,
but she shouted that this was her dream
as she grabbed my glass and gulped my drink
She took my hand and pulled me up,
then said "There's no time to waste,"
we ran like mad and hopped in her pickup,
she pulled out fast and left in a haste
We made it to Hollywood in no time flat,
and my waitress -- well she became a star,
she sings love ballads like an aristocrat
with our children in her expensive car
The reason I tell this little ditty of mine,
is to let others know of what can be,
the lady I love was sad and not so fine
in that diner where we set each other free
So find a roadside and walk a while,
and see where destiny will take you,
be it a long trek or just a short mile...
love will find its way to you, too!
