Road Trip
You said to me,
It’s like taking a trip once again,
This time with a different lens,
Though despite this – or perhaps because of it – you know where the road ends.
I contemplated:
Why do people take the same trip over again?
There is so much opportunity, so much to see in this world.
Why visit the same places over? Aside from cost or convenience.
First I thought, memories.
For some, the memory of a wonderful moment or experience
Is worth reliving the journey in the hopes it may be reacquired…
Some achieve it, some don’t.
For others, perhaps,
It is the making of new memories.
We know the destination, unless we find a new path along the way, but the journey changes.
It can be even better than the last, or maybe not... Time will tell.
Another possibility…
Some might make the same trip,
But with different people – changing the journey entirely.
The destination may be the same but not the outcome.
Are you going on a road trip?
Do you plan to travel somewhere new?
Are you taking the same roads, heading to a familiar destination?
Aside from cost, convenience, comfort… do you know what your journey will be?
