River Life
You old muddy devil, back for more,
Surging to flood, you'd even the score.
I know you want to sweep me away,
Wouldn't stop 'til we're out in the bay.
Can't trick me though, I'm wise to your ruse,
House and garden you'd take for a cruise.
There were days when you stayed out of sight,
Deviously, you rose up by night.
I keep praying, I always give thanks,
Just so you don't come over your banks,
But you'll finally win, why pretend?
You have great patience, time without end.
