River Life

You old muddy devil, back for more, Surging to flood, you'd even the score. I know you want to sweep me away, Wouldn't stop 'til we're out in the bay. Can't trick me though, I'm wise to your ruse, House and garden you'd take for a cruise. There were days when you stayed out of sight, Deviously, you rose up by night. I keep praying, I always give thanks, Just so you don't come over your banks, But you'll finally win, why pretend? You have great patience, time without end. ...This is very unique and very well penned. Brought to mind news footage of people stranded on cartops, rescuers trying to reach them. The last two lines are fantastic, you gave the 'river' a personality..a cool one :-) A most enjoyable read, very well said :-) blessings, lynn

Love this unconventional entry into his contest. He seems to like super poetic poems with unusual imagery (my last river poem an example of what he must NOT like), so I hope your humorous approach will score! It's very creative and I enjoyed it a lot.
