Rising Water

The fierce waves bash against the rustic dock Shows a painful side of this horrid beast Strong waves pound on the small worrisome rock All of these things bring out what I like least The surf is high and the waves crunch on down The fierce waves bash against the rustic dock True to its form it causes me to frown The water comes crashing in, there’s no mock Waves produce a feel like a Master Lock Never broken are the waves, born to flow The fierce waves bash against the rustic dock Not seeing the truth, I’m not in the know As the water rises fear sure does mount Time slips by as the waves move like a clock As I think about time, it sure does count The fierce waves bash against the rustic dock

Very intriguing, Russ! Usually when I think of crashing waves, I start to immerse myself in the sound of it - the relaxation of it. But this seems to trigger bad memories for you (at least that's how I took it). You take me there with your words and put me in your shoes... the sign of a true poet!
