Rise and Shine
Rise and Shine
By Franklin Price

Rise and shine can't live your life
By lying in the bed
Get up and wipe your sleepy eyes
And move around instead
Have a cup of coffee
Or a little spot of tea
Have a bite to break your fast
Stopping the hunger sets you free
Stick your head outside the door
See what's in store for you
Clear skies or stormy weather
Can help determine what to do
If you're not among the rich
And have to drive to work
I hope you have a job you like
And the money's just a perk
If you're like me retired
And don't miss that morning drive
Look up and say a prayer
Thanking God you're still alive
Give thanks for all your blessings
And for family and friends
And for a place to lay your head
When the day comes to an end
