From the very moment I knew of your existence
I couldn't wait to meet you
Feeling you growing and moving inside me
Like many pregnant women I’d stroke my bump
Thinking of the new life we had created
Who would you resemble?
What hair and eye colour would you have?
For nine months I nurtured you
I was desperate to meet you
But you kept me waiting
You were in no hurry to leave your cosy home
Overdue by ten days ….
Eventually the day arrived and I went into labour
They don’t call it labour for nothing - its hard work!
Twenty-four hours later the waiting was over
Finally I held my precious son in my arms
