Rich and Poor

The gooseberry bush, a thing of beauty, bow to my lady, bow to my lord The homely hearth and sty for stock, Bread for my bairns, fat for their chins The cottage loom, silks for my lady, Breeches for my lord Work and sweat for those without land, Bow to my lady, bow to my lord.

A great departure for you, Peter. A touch of Mediaeval roundalay about it. Topically, fits in rather well with a book covering my area's local history. I'm curious as to what inspired you? Regards, Viv

Hi Viv..my inspiration?....how we're all subject to power elites..governments, employers, those with great wealth and power....it just struck me that although there have been major changes in our lives, there are still those with great power who manipulate us, as they did in the C17th...I thought this more traditoinal form, expressed this historical link best...cheers!..Peter
