NOTE: I don't know if I did these right. This is for a contest started a long time ago that i believe closes out tonight. Each decade has its own title, and one of the titles has to be "Battle of the Sexes." These are not monoku but I don't know what else to call them. ‘“Good Golly, Miss Molly!” With Elvis’ pelvis and Rock n’ Roll’s beat, the teenage rebellion had to taste sweet. “Crimson and Clover” “Crimson and Clover” played over and over; STONES came to life midst social strife. “American Pie” Bye bye to American pie. Bees Gees were “Staying Alive.” Rock could barely survive. "Battle of the Sexes" (Video killed the Radio Star) Michael and Madonna making rhyme in a changing time; some recall it as sublime! “U Can’t Touch This” Nirvana dreams and still it seem - good times and prosperity were happening for ME! Hi Andrea, goes very nicely together each line. I have always Loved my music. I guess the only music i really can't be doing with is rap. I guess that is because they keep swearing so much. I liked going through the decades with you. I am mainly a fifties and sixties man myself. Excellent write Andrea, Definitely a seven and into my faves....Mike.

Interesting trip through music history. My nephews both play in rock bands. One is the Mad Doctors and the other is Sirs and Madams. They are both on the internet so you might want to check out their music. My late father played piano very well and also wrote music to my words. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

I've never heard the expression before. What a shame. Still funny though! I haven't heard Crimson and Clover in a long time (they no longer played it on the oldies station I listened to for awhile.)

Dear Andrea Girl you got your rock and roll beat going with this one, it's an awesome melody of classic oldies perfection, loved it totally, and tonight I'm getting out the oldies Vinal records and jump to those timeless hits from the by gone years, cheri

Nice references Andrea, they brought back some nice feelings. I was never a huge Michael Jackson fan but I had to listen to "Ben" after reading this.

OH my gosh, "Elvis / pelvis" ... why didn't you turn that into a footle? It's a Great word pairing! I'm not from the era, but I've listened to enough of the music that I could catch onto some of the jokes. The Bee Gees wordplay was cute (poor Rock) ... but ended bittersweet, considering what became of Nirvana (kind of an oxymoronic name come to think of it, if you think about their grungy sound) ...

Timothy, i was borrowing from the rock culture on some parts of my lines, such as Crimson and clover, over and over, and yes, Elvis the Pelvis, sadly, was not my original thought. It was his nicname!! Given to him by the older generation who hated him at that time/
