Retired But Not Retarded

Retired but not retarded Sure like to make that distinction One doesn't necessarily follow the other Though many have that opinion Sent out to pasture, some say Another that's very often used Please try not to be so condescending Clearly I'm not really amused As useless as a little tit bird Have you ever heard this one before Begging you to be gentle with this old fart Sensitive but with charm galore You're also going to get there one day So your smugness will soon disappear As they help you into your wheelchair and ask “Are you comfortable, my dear?” © Jack Ellison 2014

Read my poem 'Walking The Mall'. It's about being old. Dragon doesn't understand Old, or what it means... We visited a Nursing Home and he saw an empty wheel chair... He played race cars down the hall with the penguins! Then used the wheelchair as the puck in a game of curling. I was about to grab him, but everyone was being entertained safely from their door ways and said to leave them to their fun. I think it brought back their childhood again. Not to mention the wagering on who would win!

This is a funny write but also very true at the same time, you should respect your elders as I am getting closer and closer to becoming an elder myself I can certainly see your point! When do you officially become an elder? Are you one yourself yet my friend? I surely loved reading this awesome poem here this morning! What a fantastic piece, Great Work!!
