Resurrection of Christ
Nailed to a wooden cross he died.
Lord Jesus Christ was crucified.
A crown of thorns, King of the Jews.
As passers by spat out abuse.
Beneath the cross three Marys wait.
Their prayers were drowned by screams of hate.
His passion on the cross displayed,
Atonement for our sins he made.
The Christ is dead, His corpse they gave.
Was laid to rest in Joseph's cave.
His tomb now sealed, the rock was drawn
The third day on, before the dawn
An Angel of the Lord appeared.
Four guards on duty were afeared.
By Roman law they would be tried.
An empty cave, as prophesied.
Jesus had risen from the dead.
The glory of the Lord then spread,
By females who spoke with our Lord.
Disciples faith redeemed, restored.
Their words of wisdom scriptures tell.
New testaments where faith would dwell.
